Women’s Resource Center is now;  A. W. A. Y. (Advocating A Way for Adults and Youth)

Thank you for inviting us to be a part of your new name announcement ceremonies in Raleigh County.  We appreciate your commitment to the elimination of personal, institutional, and cultural violence against women, children, and men regardless of their race, creed, age, color, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, or disability by providing safety and quality emergency intervention, advocacy, prevention, and educational services for victims and witnesses of domestic and/or sexual violence.  We know your work changes public attitudes to assure and empower families with options for building lives free of violence.

Women’s Resource Center would like to announce that we are changing our name to AWAY (meaning: Advocating a Way for Adults and Youth). We have always served women, men, and children in our communities in need. Now our name truly reflects that mission and fully encompasses that anyone in need of help no matter their identity can receive the care we provide.

WRC has been serving our communities since the 1980’s and plan to continue as AWAY. Our mission is the same. Our services have not changed. We simply want our name to reflect the inclusiveness we have always shown.

We serve individuals that have experienced or witnessed domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking. We are proud to stand with those that have been victims of these crimes and act as guides, resources, and partners through the processes of healing and justice. We provide medical, legal civil, and housing advocacy to name a few. We will help anyone looking for a starting point. We provide counseling to those that have experienced or witnessed these crimes.

For more information, please visit our website: www.awaywv.org or visit our Raleigh County office at 104 Wilson Street in Beckley WV.  Follow AWAY on facebook also at https://www.facebook.com/wrcwv
