2018 Session of LEADERSHIP BECKLEY is underway



Members from the 2017 Class of Leadership Beckley welcomed the 2018 Class and helped them kick-off their Fall session with a visit to Weathered Ground Brewery in Cool Ridge WV.

Thank you to the staff at Weathered Ground for giving us a space to launch LB 2018 and for giving us the Grand Tour and filling us in on upcoming additions to the Brewery.

Thank you Chuck Stump of The Performance Group Inc. for speaking to us about our Leadership Styles and how we can use them personally and in the workplace.

Thank You Joshua A McFarland with Chick-fil-A Beckley Galleria for joining us for a discussion on What makes a Great Leader and ways to practice what we learned in everyday situations.

Thank you Vickie Webb for all you do for our community and talking to us about all that your are doing for area youth at the Hive. This post says so much about what you mean to our community - "This lady is my hero!! Vickie Webb works tirelessly in our community to make a difference in the lives of students and their families. From community gardens, STEM programs, after school tutoring services, partnerships with business leaders/city officials/area schools/NASA/churches, and she’s a Raleigh County teacher! I wish I had her dedication and energy!!"

Thank you Kenn Miller, Director of Program & Operations for speaking to our class about current and future planning for the Summit. We are excited for new development and the opportunities it brings for our communities.

Thank you Beckey Sullivan, Membership & Group Tour Director, Visit Southern West Virginia for speaking to us about the state of tourism in Southern WV and for giving us some details about how Visit Southern West Virginia works every day to attract visitors to our Southern West Virginia areas.

Thank You Dr. Susan Williams, Associate Professor, Marketing, Recreation and Tourism Management at Concord University for speaking to us about how you work with college students locally and world-wide to tell our stories of West Virginia. Your stories of students helping businesses and communities to see what they have from a different perspective helps those representatives understand undiscovered potential for growth and revitalization.

Thank you Christine Kinder , Raleigh County Extension Agent for Community Development, West Virginia State University for speaking to us about the importance of working together in our communities as partners in doing what we can to enhance the appearance of specific use areas making them more desired destinations for use by local residents and visitors alike.

Leadership Beckley is a program sponsored by Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce to develop the leadership potential of selected individuals to prepare them for greater civic responsibility and involvement and to provide a forum for future leaders to develop and connect in the Beckley-Raleigh County community.
