The Upper Deck Baseball Training Academy, located in Beckley, WV and in conjunction with the West Virginia Miners baseball team, announced on September 8 the creation of Stars & Stripes Baseball Recruiting Service to assist high school baseball players in locating opportunities and scholarships for them to continue to play baseball at the college level.
The program is specifically geared to benefit players ages 14-18 throughout their high school careers to put their names in front of potential colleges that have a need for players and/or the skills of those that play a particular position in which that college may have a need.
This recruiting network service is being operated by long-time West Virginia Miners head coach Tim Epling, who previously was a successful college baseball coach at West Virginia Tech (now known as WVU-Tech) before beginning his tenure with the Miners in 2010 that has resulted with his teams reaching the postseason of the Prospect League in seven of the eight seasons the Miners have been in existence to date, which also includes three league titles (2011, 2012, and 2016). The Prospect League is considered to be among the top collegiate summer wooden bat leagues in the United States and annually feature top college players from all levels of NCAA and NAIA collegiate play.
