VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR HALF MARATHON EVENTS -
Course Attendants, Water Station Attendants
Please contact BRCCC at 304-252-7328
if you would like to Volunteer on Race Day

The 17th Annual Beckley Half Marathon, 5K Run & 5K Walk tradition continues with the partnership with University of Charleston - Beckley, and New this year; Alpha Natural Resources, Saturday morning October 4.  We are proud to have UC-Beckley and Alpha Natural Resources involved in Marathon events and we're looking forward to our continued partnership with the Half Marathon.  They have been very engaged community partners and hospitable hosts for the Marathon planning and events.

The Beckley Half Marathon Planning Committee is still in search of volunteers to help with the course and water stations.  Our volunteers are crucial in making the event safe for runners and walkers.  Volunteers are provided with safety vests and signs to identify them on the course.  Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce at 304-252-7328.

Participants for the Beckley Half Marathon events come from all around the region and surrounding states.  We have many local participants that come out each year to challenge themselves on a 13.1 mile course through the Beckley community and we appreciate their continued support.

Anyone interested in participating in any of the Beckley Half Marathon events can register through the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce.  Pre-Registration is open now by calling 304-252-7328 for instructions for registration online or by receiving an application.

A Pre-Registration, Pre-Race Dinner Event is planned at UC-Beckley Robert C. Byrd Learning Resource Center Friday evening, October 3 from 6:00pm - 7:00pm, the evening before race day.  Participants can join us for dinner and pick up their Pre-Registration Packets or complete the registration process then to allow themselves more warm-up time the next morning prior to the start of the race.  Race day registration begins at 6:30am on October 4.

This year's Half Marathon and 5K courses remain the same as last year.  The course will again take place on South Kanawha Street, East Beckley Bypass, YMCA of Southern West Virginia Paul Cline Memorial Youth Sports Complex, Woodrow Wilson High School Campus and Uptown Beckley Historical District.

Tri-State Racer Electronic Timing and Scoring will again be monitoring all events and providing our results.

We would like to remind motorists that plan to be traveling in the Beckley area Saturday morning, October 4 to use caution and be aware that runners and walkers will be sharing the roadway with them from 8am - 11am.  At 8:00am South Kanawha Street will be closed at Church Street for Pre-Race Ceremonies and Start.  Please use the course map below to plan an alternate route to avoid possible delays during the morning.  The course will be cleared by 11:00am and all traffic areas should be back to normal after that time.

The first Saturday in October is a BIG day for our community and we are proud to be a part of the excitement.

For all Beckley Half Marathon information please call 304-252-7328, 877-987-3847 or email
